Gingerbread with Apple Compote
An exciting alternative to the classic cheese board! Perfect to make for any special occasion.

Apple Compote 3 dl
4 small apples
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 vanilla pod
2.5 tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 dl water
1/2–1 tbsp calvados
1. Dice the apples into smaller pieces.
2. Place them in a pot and add the lemon juice.
3. Split the vanilla pod and scrape out the seeds, use your fingers to massage them into the sugar to avoid lumps.
4. Simmer the apple, vanilla sugar, water, and calvados on low heat until the apples are soft, about 5 minutes.
5. Remove the vanilla pod and let cool completely.
6. Serve with Annas Original gingerbread cookies and cheese (such as cheddar, goat, or blue cheese).
